Hygienic design: why it is key in food processing machinery

In food processing lines, inadequate hygienic design can cause frequent downtime and the risk of contamination. A proper machine design must therefore allow for easy sanitation, smooth surfaces and materials certified for food contact.

When design underestimates hygiene

We recently came across a machine where the customer had a problem with frequent downtime due to sanitation processes.

  • The problem was not in the functionality of the machine, but in the design.
Sharp corners, hidden surfaces and complicated covers made cleaning take hours. The risk of contamination grew with each cycle.

What hygienic design should look like

The right food processing machine must be designed to meet not only technical but also hygienic requirements:

  • no crevices or inaccessible places,

  • smooth surfaces with the possibility of liquid drainage,

  • easily removable covers for regular sanitation,

  • materials certified for contact with food (FCM).

Legislation in Malik

We have in OURSELVES Legislative requirements for the hygiene of food processing machinery in malic.

We tailor the design to be not only functional, but also easy to maintain and fully compliant with regulations.

This saves our customers time, reduces the risk of downtime and allows them to focus on what's important - production.
